Bald Eagle

I love outdoor photography! You step outside with a camera, and you never know what nature will provide. Your only certainty is the uncertainty. In this case, I took a short late afternoon trip to Brooker Creek Preserve in Pinellas County FL. I photograph here regularly and have been focused an alligator for the past several weeks. See my blog “Alligator on the Hunt” from 4/18/2016. The preserve was fairly quiet – no alligator and perhaps too early for much activity. On my way home, I passed a tree in which I’ve seen a Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) on several previous occasions – typically late in the afternoon. The eagle was not perched as I passed on my way to the preserve, but in place on my way home. Bald eagles are not uncommon in Florida – but I’ve only seen this one at this location over this year. I assume a nest may be in the area, but am happy with this occasional sighting.
